Exclusive: Balloon Boy Letter

by mashakim on September 3, 2010

OK Poptropica Fans, this is huge! Our roving investigative reporters here at at PoptropicaSecrets.com have been able to obtain a letter sent from Balloon Boy to the Poptropica Creators. As you may remember, Balloon Boy flew up into the air towards the beginning of Counterfeit Island, and he hasn’t been spotted since last December. We’ve been campaigning tirelessly to make sure Balloon Boy is rescued on our Save Balloon Boy page. Now Balloon Boy himself has spoken. He wants to be rescued. The fateful starting moment of Balloon Boy’s tragic and unending journey around the globe. Here’s a copy of the letter, which we retrieved from the dumpster behind the Poptropica offices. Along with some picture postcards that balloon boy sent to the Poptropica Creators of his journey over the last nine months. What do you think? Will the Poptropica Creators finally let Balloon Boy land safely on the upcoming island? Will he make an appearance? Or is he condemned to a horrible eternity of flying through the air forever holding desperately onto his tiny green balloon? Let everyone know how you feel about Balloon Boy in the comments below! Balloon Boy – We will never forget you. Save Balloon Boy

Mansions, Jeeps and Dinosaur Tracks

by mashakim on September 2, 2010

Steamworks Island is getting ready to launch to the public in a few days, but the Poptropica Creators are already busy at work on the next island. Good thing, too, because back at the beginning of the year when they announced membership, they promised us lots of new islands . They’ve been posting a few new sketches and screenshots from their work on the newest island, which still doesn’t have a name. Last week we saw early sketches of different styles of Poptropica mansions, and there was also a poll to vote on which mansion looked the best. The most popular choice for the mansion in the next island. This week, we’ve seen two new screenshots involving a jeep. One is an overhead view, similar to the navigation map from Skullduggery Island or the airplane trips from Nabooti Island. Only now there’s a jeep/SUV driving over a rugged terrain. If you look closely at the ground, you’ll see what clearly looks like dinosaur tracks on the ground. The whole thing kind of looks like Jurassic Park in a way. How cool would it be if the Creators released Dinosaur Island on Poptropica. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but that would be awesome. Did a Tyrannosaurus make those tracks? And why is a dog driving the jeep? The really strange thing about this overhead view is that it kind of looks like a dog is driving the jeep. Look closely and you’ll see it. But later they posted a close-up side view that shows the jeep has a brown roof, so the dog is actually riding on top of the jeep. Still kind of strange! The second close-up side view of the jeep also clearly shows that it’s outfitted for an excursion, so we know that you’ll be driving around from place to place. You know…to see dinosaurs. A side view of a jeep / SUV in an upcoming Poptropica island.

Poptropica Steam Robot Costume

August 30, 2010

There’s a new costume available in the Poptropica Store to help celebrate the release of the newest island in Poptropica, Steamworks Island. The new costume is called the Steam Robot, and it’s a great little robot outfit, complete with helmet and steam-powered backpack. You can get it in the store for credits or for free with your Poptropica membership. Here’s a look at the item card for the costume. The caption reads, “Domo arigato” which is a reference to the old Mr. Roboto song from Styx. The Steam Robot costume in Poptropica.

Island with a Mansion

August 26, 2010

The Poptropica Creators have started to show some really early concept sketches of the newest upcoming island. Of course there’s no name yet, but we know it will include a mansion. And that’s really all they’ve told us so far. Since we’re only seeing really early sketches, this new island is probably still quite a ways off. In the meantime, the countdown for the public release of Steamworks Island continues. It will be available for everyone to play on September 9. What do you think of the sketches of the mansion? It looks very fancy! P.S. We moved PoptropicaSecrets.com to a brand new server tonight. Please post a comment or visit the Contact page to let us know if you see anything that’s not working right. Thanks!

Poptropica Fortune Cookie

August 18, 2010

There’s a new item in the Poptropica Store this week. It’s the fortune cookie and it works very differently from most items that you usually find in the store. First of all, there are two different ways that you can use it: Tell my fortune Give a fortune If you choose the first option, you’ll get a short animation of the fortune cookie opening up and it will reveal your own fortune. Here’s some of the fortunes I’ve received from the cookie. You will find lots of chewing gum in your future…under your desk. Friendship should never be taken for granted. When times are difficult, you will find strength. Think of your freckles as a close friend and you will never be alone. When you choose the second option while you’re inside a multi-verse or multi-player room, you can put the fortune cookie down on the ground. Then after three different people click on it, everyone who clicked gets a fortune. Cool!

First Ten Finishers of Steamworks Announced

August 14, 2010

The official Poptropica blog revealed the first ten finishers of Steamworks Island on their blog today. They used to announce them on the official Facebook page but then they closed that page down. I’m glad they started showing the list on the blog! Unfortunately my name’s not up there because like a lot of you I got stuck in some places . Congratulations to Bronze Monster for finishing Steamworks Island before anyone else! This was a tough island. By the way, the official blog claims that Astro-Knights was the hardest island to beat, but then again that might be because it was written by the Binary Bard (a.k.a. Mordred the villain.) I think he has a point: Astro-Knights was tough to beat and to this day has I think the hardest boss fight of all. But the puzzles and challenges in Steamworks were harder I think. If you need help, please check out the walkthrough I created yesterday . There are now both video and written versions available. Having trouble? Leave a question in the comments and you’ll get help pretty quickly.
